Research Areas
CAHST is committed to conducting research that addresses the healthcare challenges facing Nigeria and the wider African continent. Our research areas cover a wide range of topics, including:
- Maternal and Child Health: Our research work focuses on improving maternal and child health outcomes, including reducing maternal and infant mortality rates. We investigate factors that contribute to poor health outcomes and develop interventions that can improve health outcomes for mothers and children.
- Infectious Diseases: We delve into ways to improve the prevention, treatment, and control of infectious diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS. We investigate the epidemiology of these diseases, develop new diagnostic tools, and work to improve access to treatment and care.
- Non-Communicable Diseases: Our research work also touches on the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. We investigate risk factors, develop interventions, and work to improve access to care for patients with these conditions.
- Health Systems and Policy: We also foray into health systems and policies that can improve access to healthcare and health outcomes for all Nigerians. We investigate issues such as healthcare financing, health workforce development, and healthcare delivery models.
Innovation Projects
We are contributing toward healthcare innovation in Nigeria. We are committed to developing and implementing innovative solutions to improve healthcare outcomes for all Nigerians. Some of our recent innovation projects include:
- Telemedicine: We are developing telemedicine solutions that enable patients in remote and underserved areas to access specialist healthcare services. Our telemedicine platform would connect patients with healthcare providers via digital technologies.
- E-Health: We seek to develop e-health solutions that enable patients to access healthcare services online. We want to develop an e-health platform that provides patients with access to healthcare information, appointment scheduling, and teleconsultations with healthcare providers.
- Medical Devices: We are partnering with other institutions to look into the development and manufacturing of medical devices that are specifically designed for the Nigerian healthcare context. Our medical devices would include diagnostic tools, treatment devices, and assistive technologies that can improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs.
- Health Education: We are actively developing innovative health education programs that are designed to improve health literacy and promote healthy behaviours among Nigerians and Nigerian medical practitioners. Our health education programs are delivered via digital platforms, community outreach programs, and partnerships with schools and other organizations.
