The Nigerian Young Academy (NYA) is an organization established in 2010 to bring together young Nigerian researchers and scientists from various disciplines to promote research and development in Nigeria. The NYA is an arm of the Nigerian Academy of Science, which is the foremost independent scientific body in Nigeria, with a mandate to promote the development of science, technology, and innovation in the country.
The NYA seeks to develop the capacity of young scientists and researchers in Nigeria through mentorship, networking, and advocacy. It also aims to provide a platform for young researchers to collaborate on research projects, share ideas, and contribute to the advancement of science and technology in Nigeria.
With a membership of over 50 young scientists and researchers who are under the age of 45, every member has demonstrated excellence in their respective fields. Members are selected through a rigorous process of peer review and evaluation of their research and academic accomplishments.
The organization is involved in several activities, including organizing conferences, workshops, and training programs, providing mentorship and career guidance to young scientists and researchers, and advocating for policies that promote science and technology development in Nigeria.
